Box Office: The year of 2019 was a winner for Bollywood and with big releases slated for arrival, 2020 was expected to perform one step further, but that’s clearly not a case. Except Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, no other film has been able to leave an impact. Speaking about the current month, every single flick has failed to make a big splash, especially Ayushmann Khurrana’s Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Kartik Aaryan-Sara Ali Khan’s Love Aaj Kal clearly letting everyone down.
Last year’s February notable releases include Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (20.01 crores), Amavas (2.85 crores), Gully Boy (139.38 crores) and Total Dhamaal (154.30 crores), which summed up a total of 316.54 crores. This year’s February has turned out to be an underwhelming one with just 200.38 crores coming in so far, thus leaving a deficit of 116.16 crores as compared with last February. Last month’s releases include Malang (59.04 crores), Shikara (6.75 crores), Love Aaj Kal (36.50 crores), Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship (29.20 crores*), Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (54.23 crores) and Thappad (14.66 crores).

While some of the aforementioned films are still running in cinemas and will bring in some numbers but post the arrival of Baaghi 3 this week, the collections will be negligible.
With the first two months not living up to the hype (Tanhaji being an exception), March is expected to bring in some relief with mega releases like Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 3 and Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi.
