However, a BJP spokesperson backed that the actress takes money from Underworld mafia Dawood Ibrahim for her films, and Kangana Ranaut’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, is slamming him for his remarks.
For the unversed, BJP’s spokesperson, Ashwini Upadhyay retweeted an article which stated that Deepika Padukone met Dawood Ibrahim in a private meeting to get funds for her films. Furthermore, he wrote that instead of wasting money on Chhapaak, one should instead donate money to poor people who’re struggling to maintain a survival.

In another tweet, Chandel mentioned that according to her, it was a move by DP to promote Chhapaak and there’s no need for anyone to overreact and target her for the same. She wrote, “Many people are rattled with her support to tukde gang,no need to over react, it’s her prerogative to promote her film, this has always been the pattern of filmi people, if you fail to see it it’s not their fault,let them do what they want to, we shall do what we think is right”
