Saumya Tandon CONFIRMS Pay Cuts Happening In The Industry: “Still Waiting For My Payments…”

COVID-19 outbreak has laid its wrath across all the industries. There have been several reports from the entertainment sector facing delayed payments and pay cuts. Now, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai fame Saumya Tandon has opened up about her unpaid dues and also spilled beans over been asked to take a pay cut.
For the unversed, Saumya Tandon plays the much-loved character Anita Bhabi in the hit comedy show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. Now, according to reports, the actress has revealed that her payments have been ‘severely’ delayed. Though she does not distrust the showrunners, it is difficult for actors to sustain with no income is what she feels.
Talking to Pinkvilla about the same, she said, “Our payments are also delayed. My payments are severely delayed. So, the payments are yet to be completely cleared. I don’t distrust them and I am sure they should and they would clear but yes, they are delayed. It is sad. They (actors) have their own rents, parents to look after. It is sad that the payments are delayed.”
Saumya Tandon added, “I don’t know what is the reason behind it, a lot of people say that the networks are also not getting money because of no advertisements but nevertheless, this is the payment of work done. We usually work on a 90 days credit period. The revenue of that work I assume is already there and ideally, it should be cleared. I can still sustain but many others can’t.”
Meanwhile, there have been several speculations that actors have been asked to take pay cuts. Saumya Tandon revealed that it is true and she has also been asked to do so already.
“I have already been asked for it and these are not actually things which have been finalised. I am still waiting for my payments to be completely cleared and production house to tell me what is the way ahead. I think they are all swimming in the water. The picture will be clear in the next 10 days,” Saumya Tandon said.
In other news, in the fifth phase of the lockdown or Unlock 1.0, the government has allowed shootings to resume, with some necessary guidelines to be followed. This has come in as a ray of hope.
