Every 90s kid knows the worth of “I’ll be there for you,” but many wouldn’t know the efforts Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, and the team had to put in to make it a success. The sitcom witnesses the remarkable journey of 6 Friends – Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Joey (Matt Le Blanc), Chandler (Matthew Perry), Monica (Courteney Cox), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), and Ross (David Schwimmer). But one thing that remains constant throughout the ten seasons is the joy of the theme intro.
Pretty much as visible, Friends’ theme intro was supposed to be shot on a rooftop in front of a mountain. It was freezing cold, and the number of retakes extended the shoot to as late as 4 AM. Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, and the other leading members were exhausted and struggling to keep up their spirits.
It was then that Matthew Perry, who plays the role of Chandler Bing, known for his sarcastic one-liners, seemed to have gotten into the character and left his co-stars in splits. He said, “I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t in a fountain,” lighting up the mood of the team as they wrapped up the long shoot.
In addition, many wouldn’t know, but Jennifer Aniston did not really like the Friends theme song. Yes, you heard that right. In fact, she once revealed that none of the leading cast members was a fan as they found dancing in a mountain “odd.” The creators David Kauffman and David Crane, who also co-wrote the song, however, went ahead with the original plan.
