Disney Plus Hotstar has been building excitement for the OTT release of Barroz: Guardian of Treasures with “coming soon” posters, and now the wait is over – we finally have an official release date! Directed by Mohanlal in his directorial debut, the film stars him in the lead role and even features songs the superstar himself sings. Barroz: Plot
Brought to life through African black magic, Barroz was once human but was transformed into a magical being to guard Vasco da Gama’s treasure. For 400 years, he protected it, waiting for the rightful heir—a girl named Isabella. What happens when she finally arrives?
Directed by Mohanlal and written by Kalavoor Ravikumar, Barroz: Guardian of Treasures features a cast that includes Mohanlal, Maya Rao West, Gopalan, Guru Somasundaram, Nerea Camacho, Ignacio Mateos, June Vig, Tuhin Menon, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Antony Perumbavoor, Joshua Okesalako and Kirtana Kumar.
The film boasts cinematography by Santosh Sivan, an original score by Mark Kilian, and art direction by Santhosh Raman. Edited by B. Ajithkumar. It is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
Barroz: OTT Release Date And Platform
The OTT release of Barroz: Guardian of Treasures is set for January 22, 2025, on Disney Plus Hotstar. Along with the original Malayalam version, the film will also be available in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada dubbed versions.
Box Office Performance And Audience Reactions
The film proved to be a disappointment both critically and among audiences. According to unconfirmed sources, it was made on a massive budget of INR 80 crores but managed to collect only INR 17.48 crores worldwide.
