Crew Movie Review: Script Analysis
Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri wrote this lighthearted heist comedy and gave us an easy-breezy story that’s missing from Bollywood nowadays. The film opens with Geeta, Jasmine, and Divya being questioned by customs officials over the missing illegal gold. We’re then shown a long flashback of everything that led to these circumstances.
Geeta is a housewife with dreams to make life better, Jasmine wants to have all the best things in life, and Divya wants to put an end to her lies and make her parents happy. But even though they put in a lot of honest and diligent effort by flying and serving their passengers every day, their aspirations never take off.
The first half of Crew is a delightful ascend into the tragic lives and crooked decisions of our leading ladies. You never judge them for anything they do, especially considering how Kohinoor Chairman Vijay Walia (Saswata Chatterjee) takes no effort to save his airline and the jobs of thousands of employees. With flashbacks showing how the smuggling starts and how the girls eventually get to enjoy everything they’ve always desired, the first half keeps you engrossed and thrilled.
Crew takes a little serious tone in the second half, but there are still sufficient hysterical moments to keep you laughing. Moreover, the friendship between Tabu, Kareena, and Kriti’s characters adds to more enjoyment. It’s the actresses and their exquisite and confident screen presence that make you root for them. You find yourself leaving the movie theatre with a broad smile on your face as the payout is really great.
Crew Movie Review: Star Performance
It’s evident that Tabu, Kriti Sanon, and Kareena Kapoor Khan enjoyed their time together tremendously. As Geeta, Tabu skillfully strikes a balance between the dreams and audacity when needed, and the modesty and nervousness of a middle-class woman. For an actress like her, portraying these characters comes naturally. Throughout, Kareena Kapoor Khan radiates elegance and sass. She displays the wickedness needed for a story like this and looks dazzling in every shot. Bebo is quite relatable, as her character would do anything to keep herself happy!
Working alongside two remarkable actresses with such a terrific experience isn’t an easy task. However, Kriti Sanon delivers yet another fantastic performance as Divya Rana. She effortlessly weaves her charm into the narrative and captivates you with her incredible performance. Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma make a special appearance and leave a charming impact with their performances.
