Oscars 2024: The grand night of the 96th Academy Awards finally occurred on Sunday, March 10. It took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and Jimmy Kimmel was again the host. Christopher Nolan’s won the most Academy Awards, with Poor Things behind it with multiple wins. From Ryan Gosling performing the iconic Barbie song, I’m Just Ken, to Kimmer namedropping nepo baby Hailey Bieber, the ceremony was not all business but had some significant highlights.

5. Anatomy of a Fall star Messi steals the show

The seven-year-old border collie wore a stylish bowie and had his seat at the Oscars 2024. Messi plays the role of Snoop, Milo’s service dog. The film was nominated for multiple categories and won the Best Original Screenplay award. Barbie star Ryan Gosling’s face lit up just like ours when we saw the adorable Messi clap in the audience. There was also a fun bit at the end where Messi was seemingly p*ssing on Matt Damon’s star on the Walk of Fame.

4. Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue

Jimmy is known for hosting the celebrity chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kimmel named Hailey Bieber while referring to the Hollywood collective as “heavily botox Hailey Bieber smoothie drinking, diabetes prescription abusing, gluten sensitive nepo babies with perpetually shivering chihuahuas.” He also called out Barbie Margot Robbie and its maker Greta Gerwig’s Oscar snub. Kimmel also made a joke about Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr’s past drug abuse. He is being criticized for his joke on RDJ’s drug abuse. He even responded to Donald Trump calling him the worst Oscars host.

3. Emma Stone blamed Ryan Gosling for her dress being torn off

Emma Stone wins her second Oscar on Sunday. But before that, Ryan Gosling’s performance of I’m Just Ken and Emma participated in the performance when the Barbie star entered the audience. She was overwhelmed while giving her acceptance speech for her award. She won it for Poor Things. She also gave a shout-out to Killers of the Flower Moon actress Lily Gladstone.

2. Jonathan Glazer & Mstyslav Chernov’s Powerful speeches

Jonathan Glazer, director of The Zone of Interest, addressed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. He said, “Right now, we stand here as men who refute their Jewishness in a holocaust being hijacked by an occupation which has led to conflict for so many innocent people.” The movie won the Best International Feature and another award at the Oscars 2024.

20 Days in Mariupol won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and its maker, Chernov, made a powerful statement on stage. He said, “Russians are killing tens of thousands of my fellow Ukrainians. I wish for them to release all the hostages, all the soldiers who are protecting their lands, and all the civilians who are now in their jails. But I cannot change the history. I cannot change the past.” It is the first Oscar in Ukrainian history, and he wished he never had to make a film like this.

1. I’m Just Ken by Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling must have lost the Oscar to Robert Downey Jr, and he did entertain everyone with his charming I’m Just Ken performance at the Oscars 2024. The talented actor sang the song in the 2023 blockbuster. He involved the audience in his performance as well. His La La Land co-star Emma Stone also chimed in.
