The 96th Academy was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood this year. The list of nominations was quite fantastic and well-deserving. Every movie fan waited with bated breath to find out who would win the Best Actor in a Leading Role Award for Oscars 2024. Well, it’s none other than Cillian Murphy for Oppenheimer. He played Robert J Oppenheimer in the biographical drama.
The nominations for the Best Actor category at the Oscars 2024 nominations included some exceptional talents. Along with Cillian, the other nominees include Bradley Cooper for Maestro, Colman Domingo for Rustin, Jeffrey Wright for American Fiction, and Paul Giamatti for The Holdovers.
Cillian Murphy looked absolutely delighted as he went on the stage to receive his Oscars 2024 trophy. It’s the first time the Oppenheimer actor won an Academy Award.
In his winning speech, Cillian Murphy said, “I am a little overwhelmed. Thank you to the Academy. Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas, it has been the wildest, most exhilarating and most creatively satisfying journey you’ve taken me on in the last 20 years. I owe you more than I can say. Every single crew member, every single cast member on Oppenheimer, you guys carried me through. All my fellow nominees, I remain in awe of you guys.”

The Oppenheimer actor added, “We created a film about the man who created the atomic bomb. For better or for worse, we are living in Oppenheimer’s world. So I would really like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere.”
The Christopher Nolan directorial also stars Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Florence Pugh and others. Along with the Academy Award, Cillian earlier won BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), AACTA Awards and others in the same category.
