The general counsel of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) testified that actress Amber Heard’s op-ed about domestic violence was timed to capitalise on the release of Aquaman.

The op-ed alluded to Heard’s allegations against former husband and actor Johnny Depp, though the latter was not named, reports ‘Variety’.

Johnny Depp is now suing Heard for defamation, claiming that the op-ed destroyed his career and cost him the sixth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
