Puli starring Vijay, Sridevi and Shruti Haasan in key roles had created a lot of hype with its trailers and posters. The film coming from a fantasy genre tried to compete with Hollywood films as it borrowed the looks from films like Snow White and the Huntsman.

While the film was expected to take a big opening, due to the tax issues of Vijay, the morning shows got delayed. According to reports, the first day collected 10.75 crores which is less than Vijay’s last film Katthi.

Despite mixed reviews, Puli managed to collect 13 crores on the second day and 10 crores on the third day. The film managed to pull off a collection of 35 crores in three days. Collections being highest for Tamil and Telugu versions since the Hindi version suffered mainly due to Akshay Kumar’s Singh Is Bliing releasing the same day.
