Nithiin’s latest release, Thammudu, has failed to register a good start at the Indian box office. As it is backed by a big budget, all eyes were set to see how the film performs on its day 1. Now that the collection is out, it’s an alarming sign for the actor and all those associated with the film. What’s more tragic is that it turned out to be the lowest opener for the actor in the post-COVID era, earning less than Robinhood and Extra Ordinary Man. Keep reading for a detailed collection report!

Opens to mixed reception

The Telugu action drama released in theatres yesterday. It opened to mixed reviews from critics, and even the initial word-of-mouth has been mixed so far. Such a reception impacted the film in the evening and night shows, as the occupancy saw a drop instead of a jump. As a result, it ended up earning a disappointing number on Friday (July 4).

How much did Thammudu earn at the Indian box office on day 1?

As per Sacnilk, Thammudu earned an estimated 2 crore net at the Indian box office on day 1. Adjusting for GST, the gross collection is 2.36 crores. It’s a poor start and lower than Nithiin’s last theatrical release, Robinhood. Shockingly, it’s Nithiin’s lowest opening-day collection in the post-COVID era.

Opening day collection of Nithiin’s post-COVID releases (net collection):

  • Macherla Niyojakavargam (2022) – 6.25 crores
  • Extra Ordinary Man (2023) – 2.5 crores
  • Robinhood (2025) – 2.3 crores
  • Thammudu (2025) – 2 crores

For Nithiin, this is a big concern. The trend has not been good for him, as each release is registering a slower start than the previous film in the post-COVID era.

Thammudu needs to perform well

For those who don’t know, Thammudu was made on a budget of 75 crores. Against this cost, the film needs a strong momentum at the Indian box office. However, the start has been underwhelming, but from here, the film must see a miraculous turnaround over the weekend and even on weekdays. Let’s see how things unfold!
