Karthi reprised his role as a spy in the recently released film Sardar 2. As the title suggests, it is the sequel to the hit Tamil film Sardar (2022). The latest Tamil film also saw Rajisha Vijayan reprise her role, while SJ Suryah and Malavika Mohanan joined the cast. The film was released in theatres alongside Soori’s Mandaadi, which posed tough competition to Karthi’s film. So, how did Sardar 2 perform at the box office on its opening day? How Much Did Sardar 2 Earn At The India Box Office On Day 1?
The Tamil film was released amid much hype. However, the intensity of its box-office competition became clear only with the release of the Mandaadi trailer. Interestingly, the Soori-starrer has taken the lead over Karthi’s film. On Day 1, the Tamil action film earned 4.5 crore in India. The film earned 2.6 crore from its Tamil version, while its Telugu-dubbed version earned 1.9 crore, owing to Karthi’s popularity in the Telugu-speaking states. Meanwhile, the film opened to nearly 4000 screens in India with a poor occupancy rate of 24.5%.
On day 1, Sardar 2 earned 1.5 cro gross in the overseas market. Overall, the worldwide collection of the film comes up to 6.81 crore gross. This is only slightly more than Sardar’s 2022 collection.

Registers Karthi’s 4th Highest Opening Post-COVID
With the hype around the film, Sardar 2 was expected to achieve a bigger opening-day collection. However, despite having more screens than Mandaadi, its collections did not match the show count. It has now become Karthi’s 4th-highest opening-day collection in the Post-COVID era.
