Dhanush’s Raayan has performed really well at the worldwide box office and has added another important milestone to its kitty. In the latest development, it has managed to zoom past the 150 crore milestone. It even surpassed the global lifetime collection of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, thus getting on to the top of the highest-grossing Tamil films of the 2024 list. Keep reading to know more!
Marking Dhanush‘s second directorial venture, the Kollywood revenge drama was released in theatres on July 26. Upon its release, the film opened to decent to mixed reviews from critics, but fans loved the actor’s avatar and the film’s second half. As a result, a good trend was witnessed in the collection, helping the film to achieve some important feats.
As per the latest update, Raayan earned 93.80 crores net in 20 days (until the third Wednesday). Including taxes, the gross domestic collection is 110.68 crores. The film has done well in the overseas market and earned 43 crores gross so far. Combining domestic and overseas gross, the worldwide box office collection stands at 153.68 crores gross.
With this, Raayan has become the fourth 100 crore grosser of the year from Kollywood after Maharaja, Aranmanai 4, and Indian 2. It also crossed Indian 2’s 150.94 crores gross to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024.

Yesterday, three noteworthy films from Kollywood were released in theatres: Thangalaan, Demonte Colony 2, and Thatha, so Raayan has gone down considerably. So, it’ll be interesting to see if the film hits a domestic century (net collection) as it needs 6.20 crores more to achieve the feat.
