On its last leg, the Breakout horror hit Longlegs has passed a massive global milestone, and it’s a hair’s breadth away (if quantified as half a million) from making history as the biggest Indie Horror film of the last decade worldwide. Right from the start, The supernatural procedural starring Nicholas Cage and Scream Queen Maika Monroe has superseded all expectations, becoming the year’s breakout horror hit.
Directed by Osgood Perkins, Longlegs, with a production budget of $10 million, has overtaken every past Neon film, including I, Tonya, and Parasite, to become the studio’s biggest earner at the domestic box office. It didn’t stop there. Long Legs also surpassed one of the rival studios, A24’s biggest horror hit, Hereditary, with its $80 million global take. It is also the highest-grossing indie horror film at the domestic box office.
However, it’s half a million short of governing the title at the worldwide box office. After spending five weeks in theaters, Longlegs passed the $90 million mark worldwide. It has earned $72 million domestically and $17.5 million overseas, for a global cume of $91.5 million.

Longlegs is inching closer to becoming the highest-grossing indie horror flick of the decade globally. Currently, A24’s 2023 hit Talk To Me holds the title of the biggest horror film of the last decade, grossing $92.1 million worldwide.
Longlegs, which will be released on digital later this month, has a long shot at beating Talk To Me and making history as the highest-grossing horror film in the last ten years. The film, which follows a rookie FBI agent’s pursuit of an evasive serial killer, opened to positive reviews, debuting with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. After over a month, it has settled at a “fresh” 86% score.
Meanwhile, M Night Shyamalan’s spooky thriller Trap continues to struggle at the box office despite the director’s reputation for producing critically acclaimed suspenseful thrillers. Trap, which debuted with poor reception, has so far grossed $47 million against the production budget of $30 million.
