Madgaon Express has got a fresh lease of life this week. Not that it wasn’t managing to bring on footfalls on a daily basis during the weekdays as well, but then what has happened in the weekend gone by is really impressive as the collections have gone on an upswing all over again. On Friday, the numbers rose with 0.71 crore coming in, on Saturday the jump was even bigger with the 1 crore mark crossed all over again and 1.28 crore being netted. On Sunday, the momentum continued quite well, collecting 1.43 crore.
What’s all the more impressive about this rise is that the showcasing of the film is really limited currently with only 1-2 shows per multiplex. Still, the collections are consistent because the occupancy in these limited shows is more than ever. This is a kind of film which is best enjoyed with a large group of friends in a full theatre and this is what’s further resulting in a positive word of mouth due to all around hilarious reactions.
The film has now reached 23.73 crores and with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan arriving only on Wednesday evening now (instead of morning) for paid previews, the film would be benefitted further. Chances are that 1 crore more could well be added to Madgaon Express by then which will help it cross the 25 crores mark. If somehow the film manages some sort of showcasing even post the Eid releases then it could further fight it out and aim for that 30 crores lifetime.
