Kiran Rao’s directorial Laapataa Ladies has been overshadowed by many releases. There may have been an onslaught of new releases in the last few weeks, which has resulted in around half a dozen films currently being played in theatres. Some of these are doing quite well at the box office [Crew, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire], another may have emerged as a big hit [Shaitaan], and then a couple more are still fighting it out to keep their run going in theatres [Madgaon Express, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar].

However, there is one more film that has not yet given up and is still trying to find a showcase for itself on its fifth weekend. The film in question is Laapataa Ladies, which took a humble start of 0.75 crore when it was released on 1st March.

Now, when a month has passed for the film, it is still finding some sort of footfalls, at least at select shows where it’s still playing. The film has just now crossed the 15 crores mark, and while it definitely deserved to score much higher, it hasn’t turned out to be a complete pushover, something that seemed indeed when its first week closed at 6.03 crore.
