Kung Fu Panda 4’s achievement at the box office signifies a noteworthy milestone for the franchise. Premiered on March 8, the fourth chapter extends Po’s journey as he seeks and guides the next Dragon Warrior in confronting the malevolent sorceress, the Chameleon. Jack Black returns to helm the cast, joined by Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, and Ian McShane. Furthermore, Awkwafina, Ke Huy Quan, Ronny Chieng, and Viola Davis contribute their voices to new characters in the film.

Within a fortnight of its theatrical debut, Kung Fu Panda 4 has propelled beyond a commendable milestone in global box office revenues. As per reports from Deadline, the franchise has now exceeded $2 billion worldwide, positioning it as the seventh-highest-earning animated franchise. It is worth noting that this achievement also marks the third series from DreamWorks Animation to accomplish such a feat, following the triumphs of Shrek ($3.972B) and Madagascar ($2.257B).

Kung Fu Panda 4 emerged as the second highest-grossing film of 2024, following Dune: Part Two. Despite this ranking, the animated film’s impressive $58 million opening weekend propelled it to the top spot at the box office, outpacing the sci-fi epic’s $46 million earnings in its second weekend. Retaining its dominance, Kung Fu Panda 4 continued to lead with a $30 million intake in its second weekend. Its global earnings reach $179 million, with $109 million from domestic sales and $69 million internationally.
