Mammootty and Jiiva’s movie Yatra 2 was released on February 8th, while Ravi Teja’s Eagle was released a day later on February 9th. Though both films received mixed reviews from critics, the audience’s preference was evident. They clearly showed which movie they preferred watching in theatres. Keep reading to find out more!
Eagle made its mark at the box office with an opening collection of 6.2 crore. However, the film showed a downward trend with 5 crore collections on Day 2, followed by a further drop on Day 3 with 4.85 crore collections. Despite the drop, the collections stabilized at 1.55 crore on Monday, 1.40 crore on Tuesday, and 1.45 crore on Wednesday, with the collections dropping with the usual weekday trend. On Thursday, the film saw a 17% drop in collections, with only 1.2 crore collected on Day 7 (Thursday) at the domestic box office.
Currently, the movie stands at a net India total of 21.65 crore. Out of which, 20.9 crore of business is from the Telugu version, and 0.75 crore is from the Hindi version.
Eagle’s worldwide box office collection after Week 1
The movie has managed to hold up well at the box office, despite a slight decrease in collections in the initial days. On the international front, the movie has managed to garner a moderate collection of 3 crore, which is not really a great deal. Given the massive fan following that Ravi Teja commands abroad, the movie could have performed even better. As of now, the movie’s total worldwide collections have reached a staggering 28.55 crore gross, which is no mean feat. By the end of its 2nd weekend, Eagle will cross the 30 crore gross mark.
Yatra 2 failed at the box office
Mammootty and Jiiva’s political drama – Yatra 2‘s box office performance has been lacklustre, but there is no doubt that the movie has a lot of potential. Yatra 2, directed by Mahi V Raghav, is a biopic based on the life of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The movie is a sequel to the 2019 film Yatra and stars Rajiv Kumar Aneja, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Suzanne Bernert in pivotal roles.
Despite a promising start at the box office, Yatra 2 failed to maintain its initial momentum and struggled to sustain its opening day collections. The film’s collections began to plunge over the course of its theatrical run, with no growth observed in the collections over the weekend. The box office earnings continued to plummet day by day, with its eighth-day collection being only 0.31 crore. This resulted in a total net India collection of 5.86 crore for eight days, which is quite disappointing.
