The closing numbers on the opening day reported a blockbuster opening of $75 million. Now, as per the latest update, Dune 2 made a total box office collection of $81.5 million on day 1, including Thursday previews. Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya starrer has witnessed the biggest domestic opening since Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour($93 million) in October 2023. There’s another call for celebration as the sci-fi film has scored the biggest opening weekend of 2024 so far.
Dune 2 has earned $97 million in the overseas market from about 71 international circuits. As per Variety, the film made its biggest opening in the United Kingdom with $11.8 million coming in. France ($9.6 million), Germany ($9.1 million), Korea ($6.9 million) and Australia ($6 million) are among other leading markets.

The Dune 2 box office collection has surged to around $178 million worldwide. Early projections predicted an opening weekend of $170 million. But Denis Villeneuve directorial has surpassed that mark with a considerable margin of almost 5%.
