Three months of the year 2024 have gone by, and the Hindi film industry in the first quarter has not performed as phenomenally as it was expected to perform. Last year, while it was Shah Rukh Khan‘s Pathaan and its 543 crore that made the major difference in the first quarter in attaining 961.11 crore in total, the year 2024 received no such magic.
Total 15 Films In 1st quarter
From January 2024 to March 2024, a total of 15 films were released at the box office. Out of these 15, two were dubbed South Indian releases, Captain Miller and HanuMan, and the third was the Hollywood film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. In total, these 15 films have collected 787.58 crore at the box office.
The last five years have been very tough at the Hindi box office. 2020 was the pandemic year that saw 13 releases at the box office before the COVID-19 lockdown was announced. Ever since, there has been a constant struggle for theatrical releases. 2021 had a partial lockdown, with seven releases in the first quarter; the post-pandemic year 2022 saw 9 releases in the first three months. The Redemption Era came in 2023, which also saw a banger like Pathaan, along with 12 other releases at the Hindi Box Office.
