The film, set in Malegaon, a small town in Maharashtra, is inspired by actual events. An Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby production, Superboys of Malegaon is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti.
