Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai has been a lucky charm for everyone. One unlikely candidate is Randeep Hooda who plays the cop Agnel Wilson, in a ‘Special Appearance’ in the gritty story of Bombay’s underworld. Dark underworld tales aren’t new to this Haryana boy; he played a cop in Risk and a gangster modelled on Dawood Ibrahim in Ram Gopal Varma’s D.

Talking about his future plans, the actor reveals, “I play Raja Ravi Varma in the ethereal love story, Rang Rasiya. The film (which has been on hold for quite some time) should release in October this year.”

The good looking actor brushes aside any questions about taking a really long break from acting and the time spent doing theatre with Naseeruddin Shah. “My next movie,” he says, “Bhiwani, based on the sport of boxing, is really exciting. Tigmanshu Dhulia is directing it and Abhishek Chaubey has written it. You won’t believe it, but I signed Bhiwani before Once Upon A Time…’”
The movie has given Randeep a whole new understanding and liking of the sport. “Boxing is a genre in itself in America. The movie is about the town of Bhiwani in India. It’s the Mecca of boxing.” So has the role got him all charged up to beat up a few ghosts from the past? Not a chance. “Right now I’ll relax about it and continue my boxing practice. I’ll be the best boxer anybody has ever seen on screen!”
But movies on sports haven’t done well in India, is he worried? Randeep is nonchalant, “A good sporting movie has not been made (in India), not even Chak De! India. Paan Singh Tomar will come out soon and I’m looking forward to seeing Irrfan Khan in it. ‘Chak De…’ was candy floss.” Well, we will hold our judgment till we see his pow-wow on screen…
