Rishi Kapoor was an actor par excellence, but he was also a man of spoken words. He never minced his words and never shied away from calling a spade a spade. He once talked about the performances of three brilliant actors from the 2000s. Though, it was before his son Ranbir Kapoor made his debut.
It was during such a discussion that Rishi Ji clearly showed his affection and fondness for Fighter actor Hrithik Roshan. HR made his debut in 2000 with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and shot to fame overnight.
With KNPH, Hrithik was immediately given the stardom he deserved and was also put on a pedestal, same as superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan, the three ruling stars from the 90s and 2000s. During one of his appearances on Koffee with Karan, Rishi Kapoor unapologetically chose Hrithik over SRK and Aamir.
In his rapid-fire questions, Karan Johar asked the Agneepath actor to choose the better actor of the lot. Rishi Ji’s choices were Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Hrithik Roshan. He did not take a second to choose Hrithik over the other two.
However, the very next moment, Rishi Kapoor had a valid explanation for his choice. He said, “Hrithik is a genius. He is a great actor. Not that I am disregarding these two boys (Shah Rukh & Aamir), but what I see of him is something phenomenal. You know he has raised the standard of acting in this country. That’s according to me.”
Well, we can agree with his explanation since Hrithik has been an actor who gave Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Fiza, and Mission Kashmir – three diverse performances in the year he made his debut. However, his being an actor better than Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan can be a personal choice, but there is no denying the fact that he indeed stood tall along with the stalwarts of Hindi Cinema.
Be it Guzaarish or Jodha Akbar; the superstar has experimented with his roles. His upcoming films include War 2 and Krrish 4. While details for the War sequel have been doing rounds, Krrish 4 currently does not seem to be on the cards for a long time.
Coming back to Rishi Kapoor, the late actor worked with Hrithik Roshan in Agneepath, where he played a negative character, Rauf Lala. Hrithik won accolades for his performance in the film, which was a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer.
