In another proof that Indian cinema is reaching across borders, an Indian production, Dekh Indian Circus, has won the ‘Audience Choice best popular film award’ at the 16th Busan International Film Festival, held at Busan, Korea, recently. The movie, directed by National Award-winning director Mangesh Hadawale, is the first Indian film ever to win at this festival.
Dekh Indian Circus stars Virendra Singh Rathod, Suhani Oza, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It is produced by Anil Lad, Vivek Oberoi, Chirag D Shah and Mahaveer S Jain of Sundial Pictures. The music has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and the lyrics are by Prasoon Joshi. Laxman Utekar is the DoP, while Wayne Sharpe has scored the background music.
On winning the award, Hadawale said, “Truth is beautiful and universal; hence a good film does not need immense creativity but courage to say the truth creatively and honestly”. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release in early 2012.
