One of the most unique yet popular reality shows: Survivor continues to enjoy a massive fanbase and viewership even decades later. The first season of the reality competition series premiered in May 2000 and the audience continues to adore the iconic show almost 25 years later.
Season 47 of Survivor is all set for its finale and the last tribal council. The fate of the four finalists namely Rachel Lamont, Sue Smey, Sam Phalen, and Teeny Chirichillo are in the hands of the jury. Veteran host Jeff Probst shed some light on what to expect from the finale; here’s what he revealed.
Survivor Season 47: Jeff Probst On Finale And Finalists
During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Probst stated that the audience can expect a two-hour finale including a “dramatic fire-making showdown and a real battle at the final Tribal Council.” For the unversed, the finale is slated to air on CBS on December 18, 2024. Meanwhile, the host also had a few words to say about the final four of the season.
Probst felt that the top four of the season were clear proof that “any type of person can win.” He stated that when the season started, nobody could have guessed that these four would be the final four. The 63-year-old felt this was the beauty of Survivor, that it changes “moment by moment, day by day, and only those who can adapt quickly” survive till the very end.
He added that all four of them “encountered obstacles” but did a great job “maneuvering their way out of trouble.” Their gameplay has confirmed them as a finalist and they have a chance to get to the final three and face the jury. Probst also commented on the jury panel and his thoughts on it.

He mentioned that of late, he has been “very impressed” with the jury as they “take their role seriously and want to give their vote to the player they most want to represent their season.” Probst felt that the last few panels of juries have considered the entire gameplay of the finalists. They focus on not just the power moves but also the way the player was during the camp.
The presenter spoke about the after-show being a raw event. “The beauty is in the authenticity that comes with a group of people who have not been influenced by social media,” he said. Probst felt they don’t have the need to defend their game and the conversations they have with the final three are noteworthy. He concluded by saying since those people are attempting to transition back to a normal life, it’s interesting to see it happen in real time.
