Bigg Boss 17 Winner Munawar Faruqui is again in trouble with the authorities. By now, reports of the standup comedian being detained have circulated everywhere. Police detained Munawar after a raid was conducted at an alleged illegal hookah parlor. But amongst new allegations and rumors, an old clip of Munawar urging fans not to do drugs is going viral, and he is causing the public’s backlash because of it.
The news comes in just days after the reports of another Bigg Boss alum, Elvish Yadav, being arrested spread like wildfire. Faruqui is not a stranger to controversies; he was first arrested in the middle of a comedy show in 2021 for hurting religious sentiments. He then made a comeback by participating in Ekta Kapoor’s show Lock Upp. Kangana Ranaut was the host, and Munawar emerged as the winner. After this, he soared to another level of fame and continued his winning streak by lifting the trophy of Bigg Boss 17.
But, tough luck seems to be following Bigg Boss winners after Elvish Yadav of Bigg Boss OTT fame got involved and arrested in the snake venom case. Reports and rumors of Munawar getting detained came as a shock to his many fans. Amongst all this, an old clip of Faruqui at a public event is going viral.
In the clip, Munawar urges fans to live good lives and not do drugs. This video’s emergence, especially when he has been detained for something similar, is very suspicious. But people on the internet are furious at the hypocrisy of his actions. The Lock Upp Winner is also facing immense backlash.
After this video went viral, people expressed their displeasure on social media sites, notably X (formerly Twitter). Many also came to Munawar’s defense, saying that the singer-rapper couldn’t have been detained because he was active on his Instagram page, posting stories as recent as 2 hours ago.
Reports suggest that everyone detained in the case was questioned and released. And that was just a standard procedure, that’s all. The mixed reactions to the video have only added more fuel to the story.
