It is common knowledge that the actor had started a romantic relationship with actress Sarika despite being married to his then-first wife, Vani Ganapathy. In the show, Rendezvous With Simi Grewal, Sarika recalled how it was Kamal Haasan who had fallen head over heels in love with her first. Even though she was hesitant at first, she also lost her heart to the Chachi 420 actor. However, their relationship was a controversial one since Haasan was still married to his first wife, Vani Ganapathy during that time.
Sarika was called a ‘villain’ and the ‘other woman’ which was quite a negative atmosphere for her. She also tried breaking her relationship with Kamal Haasan several times but the love between the two was also very strong. Meanwhile, Haasan’s marriage with Vani Ganapathy was further falling apart and he wanted to end it for good and be with the Purani Jeans actress. However, due to the increasing negative scrutiny surrounding them, Sarika broke the relationship despite being extremely hurt by the decision.
Sarika Became Pregnant With Kamal Haasan’s Child
It was during this time that Kamal Haasan learned that Sarika had become pregnant with his child. The Hari Puttar actress revealed that he deserved to know this before she planned to move to London and raise the child. She revealed on the show, “I just thought that it was right that he knows it. I was just informing him that I am carrying your child, that’s all. I did not ask him to say that marry me, leave your wife, or move in with me. I thought he had all the right to know I was carrying his child and I decided to keep the child because it was my need. He was not committed to me, he was in a marriage. He was not responsible in any way.”
However, it was then that Kamal Haasan decided to choose to be with Sarika and embrace fatherhood. He soon divorced Vani Ganapathy and tied the knot with Sarika in the year 1988. Their first daughter Shruti Haasan was born in 1986 and their second daughter, Akshara Haasan, was born in the year 1991. However, their marriage also did not last too long, and they filed for divorce in 2002.
