Kapil Sharma will be back with his gang this week, and his comedy special will now stream on Netflix instead of Sony Liv. Interestingly, the comedian has made a third shift for himself and his team, starting from Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors to The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony Liv and now finally moving to The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. And his earnings as a comedian from his last show are unbelievable!
Kapil rose to fame by participating in a reality show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. He was next seen in Comedy Circus, making people laugh with his antics, but his much-awaited breakthrough came along with Comedy Nights.
Kapil Sharma, in one of the episodes of his previous show, revealed that he earned only Rs 500 for working at a telephone booth and later bought a cassette player from that earnings since he loved listening to music. However, his salary over the years took a drastic turn, and who knew he would earn more than the highest-paid superstar, Shah Rukh Khan‘s fee?
When Kapil’s show shifted to Sony TV, he was paid a whopping 35 lakh per episode for the show! For 130 episodes, he earned 45.50 crore. This was followed by 43.75 crore for 125 episodes of season 2. In total, he earned a mind-blowing 89.25 crore for the first two seasons of the show, which aired from April 2016 to March 2020.
Fee Hike For TKSS 3
After the show’s phenomenal success, Kapil hiked his fee by almost 42% for season 3 and charged 50 lakh per episode. A report by Indian Express quoted that the comedian earned a whopping 5 crore per month, much higher than most of the Bollywood stars! For season 3 of the comedy show, he took home a paycheck of 26 crore for 5 episodes.
Further Hike & Unimaginable Total
Kapil Sharma’s paycheck got fatter with the next two seasons of The Kapil Sharma Show. He reportedly got paid 60 lakh per episode for the fourth season, and his fee for the fifth season saw a further jump to 80 lakh per episode. He was paid 48 crore for 80 episodes of season 4 and probably 68 crore for the final season of the show that aired 85 episodes from September 2022 to August 2023.
Total Earnings Higher Than Shah Rukh Khan’s Fee!
From 2016 to 2023, Kapil Sharma earned a total of 231 crore, which was almost 15.62% higher than Shah Rukh Khan’s fee for Pathaan. The superstar earned a whopping 200 crore, making him the highest-paid Bollywood actor of current times. However, Kapil Sharma’s income from an entire show running from 2016 – 2023 was higher than SRK‘s fee from one film.
But Kapil still earns much more than many Bollywood superstars. He was once asked about his 300 crore net worth and his massive earnings from the comedy show, and the comedian neither confirmed nor denied the figure. However, he teased and confessed that he had also lost a lot of money!
