Films generally succumb to the deadly Monday test after releasing on Friday and performing well over the 1st weekend. However, the 1st Monday, which is a working day, brings the numbers drastically down, but Shaitaan might still hold its fort strongly. At least the advance booking trends suggest so.

The horror flick helmed by Vikas Bahl experienced its first massive drop on the fourth day, Monday, in the advance booking. The numbers for the advance tickets dropped by almost 70% on the fourth day.

While Shaitaan, on the third day, collected over 5 crore from advance booking for 2,28,148 sold tickets, it dropped the ticket sale by almost 70% on Monday with only 68,646 tickets sold, accounting for a gross collection of around 1.15 crore.

The horror flick opened at 15.21 crore in India and collected 19.18 crore on the second day. It earned somewhere in the range of 20 – 22 crore on Sunday, day 3, bringing a 50+ crore weekend on the table. The film is performing better than what was expected from the thriller, which also stars R Madhavan and Jyothika.

The three lead stars are not new to the horror genre. While Ajay Devgn has given horror flicks like Bhoot and Kaal, R Madhavan headlined a film titled 13B. Even Jyothika has played the Tamil version of Monjolika in the psychological horror flick Chandramukhi.

Shaitaan has been performing phenomenally worldwide as well. The film is trending in Comscore’s global top 10 films in New Zealand and Australia.
