Shaitaan led by Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan has passed with flying colors on the opening day. The supernatural horror thriller directed by Vikas Bahl took a massive pickup one day before release. A double-digit number was expected, but the box office collection on day 1 has put Drishyam 2’s 15.38 crores in danger. Scroll below for the early estimates.
It is indeed surprising for a film belonging to the horror genre to take such a fantastic start. The pre-release hype was highly favorable, and there was little to no competition at the ticket windows. Another major contributing factor was the partial holiday due to Mahashivratri. And needless to say, Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan’s film has made the most of it!
Shaitaan Day 1 Early Trends!
Our in-house trade analyst had predicted an opening of around 10-12 crores for Shaitaan. It was far from the imagination that Ajay Devgn would play in the vicinity of Drishyam 2’s opening collection. Not only has the milestone been unlocked, but it may also have been surpassed by an impressive margin.
As per the early trends flowing in, Shaitaan has added a box office collection in the range of 14.50-16.50 crores on day 1. The advance booking sales hinted at a good start, but spot bookings have taken the game to a different level!
Shaitaan vs Drishyam 2
Ajay Devgn may have surpassed his last successful outing, Drishyam 2, which earned 15.38 crores on its opening day. It is to be noted that his crime thriller was a much-anticipated sequel!
With the initiation of the first weekend, it is now to be seen where the box office earnings will land and how many more surprises Shaitaan has for us!

Apart from Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan, the film also stars Jyothika, Janki Bodiwala, and Anngad Raaj in pivotal roles. It is a remake of the 2023 Gujrati horror flick Vash. The film is backed by Devgn Films, Jio Studios, and Panorama Studios.
