Big films searching for big occasions to release isn’t a new thing, but this trend creates too much chaos sometimes. The latest and the greatest example is the occasion of Independence Day this year. Two big films, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 and Ajay Devgn’s Singham Again, are clashing at the box office. Mega clash at the Indian box office in August?
There’s going to be too much drama in the month of August as the latest report in Track Tollywood states that the makers of The Greatest Of All Time are locking 15th August as the film’s release date. For those who don’t know, after Leo, Thalapathy Vijay will be doing two projects, and after that, he’ll be quitting the filmy career and entering full-time politics.
The Greatest Of All Time is going to be Vijay’s second last film, and his last film is reportedly with the RRR’s producer, DVV Danayya. So, one can only imagine the excitement of fans regarding these two films. And if the report turns out to be true, it’ll be a mega clash between The GOAT, Pushpa 2, and Singham Again on 15th August. Honestly speaking, Singham Again and The GOAT won’t eat up each other’s business. But the Pushpa sequel will definitely suffer a bit due to The GOAT, especially in the Telugu states.
Thalapathy Vijay is arguably the biggest force in the Tamil film industry right now, and he enjoys a crazy fan following in Tamil Nadu. So, even if the clash happens, The Greatest Of All Time won’t suffer that much reason. Also, if we look at the past, Pushpa earned just approx. 16 crores in the Tamil Nadu state. So, despite a sequel factor, Pushpa 2 won’t cause much impact, and Vijay will easily get an edge in the screen count.
The main excitement lies in the Telugu states. Yes, Pushpa 2 will easily dominate here, considering it’s the home ground of Allu Arjun, and the sequel factor will work a big time. However, not to forget that even Thalapathy Vijay enjoys a solid fan following in these states. Speaking about Vijay’s recent film, Leo enjoyed an impressive contribution of over 40 crores from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
So, if The Greatest Of All Time enjoys positive word-of-mouth, it might cause a bit of dent, if not bigger, to Pushpa 2‘s box office business in Telugu states.
