Grand Masti has opened to grand numbers on its very 1st day. Releasing in limited screens given the bans slapped on the film for its explicit content, the film still emerged with a great response at the box-office. The film currently ranks as the 4th highest opener of the year at the domestic box office. The film on its opening day earned 12.50 crores and beat records of films with higher star value like Himmatwala which made only 12 crores or the more recent films like Satyagraha which earned 11 crores and OUATIMD which earned 11.50 crores on Day 1.

However, the film must be applauded for finish fourth among the year’s best opening films at the box office. While still leading the list are SRK’s Chennai Express which made 33.10 crores on its opening day, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that made 19.45 crores and Race 2 with 15.10 crores but surprisingly it took Grand Masti little effort to touch close to the the higher ranks of films at the domestic box office. Despite releasing on a non-holiday, the film opened well and will surely score over the other releases of the week!
