Crew has not just opened quite well, but it has also started disrupting the record books. As the last release of the first quarter of 2024, it has already stepped into the top 3 biggest Bollywood openers, with 10.21 crores coming on the very first day. This way, it has now just turned out to be only the third double-digit opener of the year so far and has also found a very healthy positioning for itself.
In fact, including Crew, only five films have actually managed to cross even the 5 crores mark, which shows how difficult it has been for films to find an audience on the very first day. There are at least a couple of other movies in the top 10 that would have comfortably crossed the 5 crores mark pre-pandemic, while at least Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya was a definite double-digit opener in the making back in time.
However, currently, the scene has changed to word of mouth doing the trick rather than the first-day numbers calling the shots.
Still, Crew has got first-day numbers as well, and this is how it stands in the top 10:

Crew – 10.21 crores

The chart will start looking better and better as the weeks progress as Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan arrive this Eid, and both the films will certainly make it to the top 5, with the former even set to challenge Fighter for the top spot. Meanwhile, the weekend is on, and it would be interesting to see where Crew finds itself amongst the best weekend openers of 2024.
