What a huge hit Animal has turned out to be, and that too in record time. In just 4 days, the film is now finding itself in the list of Top-5 biggest grossers of 2023. It has edged past the entire lifetime score of The Kerala Story [242.20 crores] already and most likely by tonight, it should surpass the entire (current) lifetime score of Tiger 3 and then take an unassailable lead.
In simple words, the film is now in the BIG league already and is competing with the big daddies of 2023 – Jawan, Pathaan and Gadar 2. Of course, it won’t be easy since each of these is a 500 Crore Club film (with Jawan even higher at 600 Crore Club).
While Jawan would be simply unassailable, even Pathaan and Gadar 2 would be a very tough call for the Ranbir Kapoor starrer. The film that it would be actually targeting is last year’s KGF: Chapter 2, the Hindi version of which had accumulated 434.70 crores. Once that happens, it can aim for higher up.
It’s a different league altogether of films from The Kerala Story onwards. Thankfully though, after a low 2022, there has been a flurry of 100 Crore Club films at least. While Dream Girl 2 was also a century maker but out of the Top-10 list after the release of Tiger 3, now Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan [110.53 crores] is also out. Rest assured, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Adipurush (Hindi) too would have a short stay in the Top-10 list after the arrival of Dunki and Salaar.
