Aamir Khan’s musical drama production Secret Superstar might have stopped at earnings of 62 crores in India despite a festive Diwali release, but the film is receiving a massive response in China, building on Khan’s reputation there.
We all have been a witness to the mayhem caused by Aamir Khan’s Dangal at the China box office. But talking about Secret Superstar, which has clicked with the audience much more than Dangal could, even if both the movies had an emotional value attached to it.
Making it to the top ten movies of 2017 on Indian IMDb as well, this movie does not seem to come to a standstill soon.

Secret Superstar very smoothly entered the 500 crore club and as of today, it stands at 584.60 crores ($ 91.29 million) in the China box office. The film stands at a grand total of 654.60 crores at the worldwide box office.
Aamir Khan’s Dangal, in 2016, raked in $190 million, the highest earning by any Indian film abroad. But after Secret Superstar this position has been grabbed by this film. Aamir is hugely popular in China where craze for Indian movies is ever growing.

Wary of outside influence, China has a quota on the number of overseas movies that can be screened in the country each year.
Apart from Aamir Khan, Secret Superstar also features his Dangal onscreen daughter Zaira Wasim. The Advait Chandan-directed film is the story of a budding singer and how she breaks free of societal shackles to make a name for herself in the music industry.
