Zack Snyder To Direct ‘Superman’

After all the hushed whispers around who’s going the be the director for the next Superman franchise, director Zack Snyder has beat his contemporaries and will direct a movie on the legendary American hero. The film, based on DC Comics’ popular character, is going to be a Warner Bros film and will be written by Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.

Superman flew on the big screen in 1978 with Christopher Reeve as the red-caped hero. The sequels that followed weren’t received very warmly by fans. But with Snyder beating Darren Aronofsky, Ben Affleck, Matt Reeves and Tony Scott to the spot, we can be up for a treat soon. Snyder said he was “psyched” but surprised to have won the role. “I had always been a huge fan of the character, but this is out of the blue,” he said. The director of films like 300 and Watchmen is currently looking forward to his action-fantasy Sucker Punch, which is set to release in March next year.

Word around is that the film will have a “villain connection” – General Zod, who was played by Terence Stamp in ‘Superman’ and Superman II. Till then, wait and watch.
