Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on 14th June. The actor was at the peak of his career and had a promising future. From MS Dhoni to Kedarnath and Chhichhore, SSR had proved his acting skills. He was last seen in Dil Bechara. But do you know how much he charged for the film? Below is the scoop you need.
The official adaptation of Fault In Our Stars marked Mukesh Chhabra’s directorial debut. Along with that, Sanjana Sanghi too made her acting debut with the film. Some of the reports speculated that Sushant took his life due to the financial crisis. But this deed of the actor clearly proves otherwise.
As per recent reports doing the rounds, Sushant Singh Rajput charged only 3 crores for Dil Bechara. This, of course, is only half (or less) of his actual remuneration. The film was going through a tough time in terms of finances. In fact, it was on hold for a year.
Owing to it all, Sushant Singh Rajput decided for a pay cut. A friend close to the late actor has made these revelations in a conversation with Bollywood Life. “Sushant usually charged to the tune of 6-8 crore for each movie that he took up. But for Dil Bechara, he only charged half the money. He got a little over Rs 3 crore for the film,” he said.
About why the actor did so, “This was Mukesh Chhabra’s directorial debut and they both shared a warm friendship. He had launched him and Sushant had promised Mukesh that he will do his first film. Dil Bechara, earlier titled Kizzie Aur Manny, took an extra year because of funding and a few internal changes that happened. So when Sushant agreed to do the film, he saw the challenges the team was facing and agreed to do it for half his fee,” shared the friend.
Sushant Singh Rajput felt it was the ‘most correct thing to do.’ The friend concluded mentioning how SSR has a long-standing friendship with Fox Star Studios and even was in talks for a couple of more films with the banner.
