Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey has been making all the right kind of noises ever since its announcement. Deepika has stepped into the role of the acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal, and surprised everyone with the powerful trailer of the film. But ever since the trailer hit the internet world, netizens couldn’t help but compare it to Parvathy Thiruvothu starrer South film Uyare.
The South film which saw Parvathy essay the role of an acid attack survivor lies on the same lines as the Deepika Padukone starrer. Even though the Chhapaak character ‘Malti’ is inspired by the real-life of Laxmi Aggarwal, people talked compared the looks of both the actresses. Deepika finally reacted to this the comparison during her recent interview with Rajeev Masand and revealed whether it is a concern for the makers or not!
Deepika said, “Everyone has a different way of telling it. Today, someone else can get up and decide to make a film on Laxmi or on acid violence. I think every film will have a different texture. I actually feel like it’s a good thing.”

She further added, “Cinema is such a powerful medium and that’s why we chose to tell these stories. It’s not like acid violence has not existed in the country, it has. It’s just spoken about as much as other issues like rape or other issues. It’s nice that even Shabana ji had done a movie last year. There have been a couple of them that have been. So, there’s no concern.”
