Chak De! India was a 2007 sports film directed by Shimit Amin. It starred Shah Rukh Khan as Kabir Khan, the former captain of the India men’s national field hockey team. After losing against Pakistan, he decided to redeem himself by mentoring the 16-member national women’s team.
Annu Kapoor accuses Chak De! India team
In an interview with ANI, Annu Kapoor accused Shah Rukh Khan and the team of Chak De! India of twisting facts. He claims the makers tried to fit in a communal narrative. As per the allegations, the character Kabir Khan is based on coach Mir Ranjan Negi.
Annu Kapoor said, “The main character in Chak De! India is based on a famous coach, Negi Saab. But in India, they want to show a Muslim as a good character and make fun of a Pandit (Hindu priest). This is something old, where they use the idea of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb (Hindu-Muslim unity) to put a label on it.”
Claims on Priyanka Chopra
This isn’t the first time Annu Kapoor has been in the news for his serious claims on Bollywood. He had previously claimed Priyanka Chopra Jonas was “very upset” to kiss him in 7 Khoon Maaf because he wasn’t a “hero.”
Priyanka Chopra Jonas had reacted to his allegations and called them “cheap.”
