A few years ago, Aditya Dhar and Vicky Kaushal announced they would work together on a mythological superhero action film, The Immortal Ashwatthama. After the success of their 2019 film, Uri: The Surgical Strike, everyone was excited to see what the actor-director duo had planned for everyone. Vicky had even beefed up and underwent a physical transformation for the film. Sadly, the movie got shelved.

In the past two years, there have been many speculations about why The Immortal Ashwatthama got shelved. Neither the actor nor the director had said anything about it. Now, Aditya Dhar has finally revealed why they couldn’t proceed with the film. During the trailer launch of his upcoming movie Article 370, Dhar shared the real reason.

The Uri director revealed, “We have put that on the back burner right now. I’ll be honest, the kind of vision we all had for that, it was too big to work for Indian cinema. The kind of VFX quality we were looking at, nobody has even strived for it here. Until the technology becomes affordable or cinema halls increase, we’ll have to wait.”
