The official synopsis by Walt Disney Animation reads, “Wish is an all-new musical-comedy welcoming audiences to the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.”
It’s a story about a 17-year-old girl, Asha, who wants to fulfil her grandfather’s wish on his 100th birthday. King Magnifico collects people’s wishes, and once every month, he grants one person’s wish in front of the entire town. Asha tries to get a job as Magnifico’s apprentice so that she can win his trust and make things work in her favour. However, Asha learns some shocking truths about the King and everything that happened to people whose “wishes” were granted in the past. With the help of a talking goat and Star, Asha takes the onus of exposing King Magnifico’s wrong deeds and deception.
