After last year’s musical fantasy Wonka, Timothee has started his 2024 with a bang courtesy of his 2021 sequel Dune: Part Two or Dune 2. The film recently achieved a new milestone worldwide, and while it is still churning money at the theatres, it is all set foot on the digital platforms. The film was directed by Denis Villeneuve and features Timothee as the lead actor. Besides the Wonka star, it also features Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Javier Bardem, and Dave Bautista in crucial roles. The story is based on Frank Herbert’s literary work.

Dune 2 was released last month, and according to When to Stream’s report, the movie is all set to come on the digital platforms just after a month. The 2021 movie witnessed the fall of House Atreides, and Paul and his mother set on the journey to unite with the Fremen; in the process, Paul meets Chani, played by Zendaya. The sequel focuses on Paul’s rise as a leader of the Lisan Al Gaib as he wages war against House Harkonen.

As per the media outlet, Dune 2 is expected to release on VOD and digital platforms on April 2. It will be available on Apple, Amazon Prime Video, and Google [on PVOD]. However, the report also mentioned that Warner Bros has neither announced nor confirmed the online release date.

The Denis Villeneuve-helmed visual spectacle was made on a reported budget of $190 million and has earned a massive $626 million globally, as per Box Office Mojo. It earned $82.50 million on its opening weekend in North America.

Although the studio Warner Bros has not yet confirmed a sequel to Dune 2, the director told the South Korean Press that Dune Messiah is being written. Denis reportedly said he wants to take a break between the second and potential third installment of the Dune franchise. In an interview with Time Magazine, the celebrated director said, “Dune Messiah should be the last Dune movie for me.” The fans would have to wait for substantial news on this front.
