‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ is a multifaceted narrative blending action, fantasy, history, and drama. The story revolves around Vaaliban, an undefeated warrior whose encounter with a dancer named Rangapattinam Rangarani and a mysterious figure named Chamathakan sets off a chain of events.
Lijo Jose Pellissery as the director, P.S. Rafeeque as the writer, and starring Mohanlal, Sonalee Kulkarni, and Hareesh Peradi, with Danish Sait portraying the antagonist. Along with cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan and composer Prashant Pillai. As the undefeated warrior Vaaliban, Mohanlal had unparalleled versatility and a commanding on-screen presence. Sonalee Kulkarni was convincing in her role. However, Danish Sait, as the antagonist, seems to veer into overacting, diminishing the effectiveness of his character, while Hareesh Peradi needs to be more unconvincing in his role. Despite this, the ensemble cast works together to bring the story to life, contributing to the film’s appeal despite its shortcomings.
The release date is Friday, February 23, 2024, on Disney+ Hotstar. Originally made in Malayalam, the film has been dubbed into Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.
