Netflix brought back Squid Game with a shorter and tighter season 3, and the return of the VIPs stirred things up again. These masked figures, first seen at the end of season 1, appeared once more in the second half of the new season. Their presence, which is always known for their cold amusement in watching others suffer, always feels jarring, and this time, they had a bit more involvement in the games, but not as much as originally planned.

Editor Removed Several VIP Scenes in Post-Production
According to Screenrant, many of their scenes were cut during editing. Nam Na-young, the editor, explained that when too much time was spent in the VIP rooms, the emotional grip of the games started to slip.
She stated, “Actually, there were more scenes with the VIPs. As I was editing, I did cut them a lot because when we’re in the VIP room, the tension kind of releases. The contestants’ emotions and reactions of the games were what I prioritized when editing.”
