Released in 2019, the Malayalam drama grabbed the attention of both the audience and critics equally due to its strong storyline and performances by Parvathy Thiruvothu, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, and others. The film revolves around the central character, Parvathy, a strong and determined girl with aspirations to become a pilot. But all her dreams and ambitions to be a pilot comes crashing down following a cowardly acid attack on her by a possessive and abusive ex-boyfriend with whom she cut off all the ties, a few days before the incident.
From there on, it follows the journey of how the central character goes through all the hardships and criticism after what her ex did to her. But despite all the odds against her, she rises like a phoenix bird with her strong will and determination and never bows down and loses her focus from her goals.
2) Super Deluxe
The Tamil thriller venture helmed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja with powerhouse performers like Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha Akkineni, Fahadh Faasil, Ramya Krishnan in key roles, the edge of the seat thriller including four intriguing stories, all interrelating to each other in one or the other way had the audience in taking. The film garnered numerous accolades and was also premiered at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts.
Super Deluxe has a separate fan base, the actors in the thriller nailed their respective characters with their natural performances. The role which Vijay Sethupathi played as a transgender named Shilpa was something that not many can pull off the way he did. The Tamil superstar has mentioned in an interview that after hearing the narration he agreed instantly and had literally requested his director Thiagarajan Kumararaja not to replace him.
3) Sarkar
The political action film with Thalapathy Vijay in lead, revolves around a well-established NRI businessman who returns back to his hometown in Chennai for State Assembly election. Only to find out that someone already has cast a fraud vote in his name. The central character approaches the state election commission where he finds out that he isn’t the only one who has been victim of fraud voting but there are many others too who have been targeted by the fraudsters.
The Thalapathy Vijay starrer helmed by A R Murugadoss was the highest grosser in Kollywood in 2018. Sarkar garnered 100-crore Gross Worldwide in just two days of its release.
