While the world is struggling to fight its way out of the pandemic COVID-19, the entertainment industry globally is no different. Right from film and tv shootings being stalled, the release of films too has been put on hold owing to theaters being shut. In the middle of all of this, we saw several successful daily soaps of the 80’s and 90’s being re-run including Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, featuring Dipika Chikhlia among others.
The re-run on one of the most loved mythological shows of that time has broken all records yet again. Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan has garnered a global viewing of over 7 crores eventually beating the record of Games Of Thrones as well! While over the years we have seen several different versions of Ramayan being made, none of them have managed to come even close to the 1987 Ramayan.
Now, Dipika Chikhlia, who played the role of the Sita in the Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, has lashed out to those attempting the remake of the much-loved epic. Making sure to not mince her words, Dipika has been quoted by Pinkvilla saying, “I don’t know why people keep making Ramayan. Every year they come up with a new Ramayan. I think people should stop that. I keep wondering why do you try? When you have something already, why try to replicate? The narration, the performances, the simplicity, everything is missing.”
