The reality show Bigg Boss 18 is currently in the casting process, and recent reports suggest that an online scam is being committed on various platforms in the name of Bigg Boss. The scam was out in the open when an actress fell prey to the scam.
Mumbai-based actress Kavita Virmani wanted to participate in Salman Khan’s reality show, and someone contacted her regarding an opportunity on the same show. Kavita was asked to pay 2.10 lakh to enter the show as a contestant.
Looking at this as a massive opportunity to get cast in a show as big as Bigg Boss 18, Kavita excitedly transferred the amount. She was told to connect on a WhatsApp number but later found out it was a scam, and she was duped on the pretext of getting cast in the reality show.
The actress received a couple of messages, and the fraudster used many big industry names to bait her. Kavita transferred the amount in various installments as she was excited and eager to be a part of such a huge show that would be helpful in her career as well.
After she realized she was duped, she filed a complaint at Versova police station. The money asked was on the pretext of a registration fee, and thus, Kavita Virmani could not contemplate that it might be a scam.
According to a police official, as quoted by Hindustan Times, “The caller dropped some well-known names from the industry and said he was in talks with them and that most of them agreed to do the show. He assured Virmani about getting her in the show.”
The report further said that once the money was paid, Kavita kept calling the same number a number of times, but she was asked to wait for a call from the production team. However, she never received any phone calls. Later, the number was also switched off, and there was no communication between the two parties.
For the unversed, many times during Bigg Boss, Salman Khan has repeatedly mentioned not falling prey to such scams. We suggest you beware of such fraudulent calls and demands.
