The Verdict: State vs Nanavati Review(Mid-Season): The case of K. M. Nanavati vs State of Maharashtra is one of the most interesting and most discussed cases of India’s post Independence era. The interesting case and its verdict has inspired several books, films and now a web show titled The Verdict: State vs Nanavati. Plus having a stellar cast with the likes of Manav Kaul, Sumeet Vyas, Kubbra Sait, Makrand Deshpande, Saurabh Shukla, Soni Razdan, Angad Bedi, Elli AvrRam, Viraf Patel & Pooja Gaur among others makes it a show not worth missing.

I watched first 3 episodes of the show yesterday and I must say it’s quite rich in the information part. The makers haven’t held bars and they have in fact kept the names of the main characters same and that’s what makes it an honest attempt towards informative digital cinema.

The Verdict: State vs Nanavati Review (Initial): Informative But Lacks The Grip

However, as far as the screenplay so far is concerned the show needs a huge pickup in the next episodes. The grip that this kind of web show needs to have is missing so far and that may not go in its favour. The intrigue is missing, the writers seem to be confused between what’s supposed to be funny and what’s serious. They have added some genuinely funny scenes and dialogues but they provide very less relief.

The digital audience as we all know has a very less attention span time. If something is not able to grab the public’s attention, they take no time to skip it and move on to something else. Here, I can also give the show a benefit of doubt that it might be taking some time to build characters but again considering the story has been told a lot of times before, the narrative needed to have an excellent grip here.
