Remember the 90s era, when Sunny Deol was seen behind the bars in every third movie, trying to fight either a corrupt system or his rage! Both of which have been combined in Amit Sadh, as he channels his inner Sunny Deol for his upcoming action drama – Pratap! The trailer for the film has dropped, and honestly, it doesn’t make you feel anything!
Amit Sadh’s sincere commitment to raw physical intensity and a dependable supporting ensemble featuring Tigmanshu Dhulia and Seema Biswas try too hard to look promising, but the film’s plotline reads like any 90s action/crime thriller. A very dated plotline that reminds us of the 1990s system-vs-cop dramas, complete with melodramatic dialogues.
Written and directed by Sachin Saraf, the official trailer of Pratap introduces Amit Sadh as Pratap Ranade, a decorated, ruthless encounter specialist who takes down dangerous criminals without hesitation. However, his uncompromising stance puts him directly at loggerheads with a corrupt political-police system!

In a classic narrative twist, Pratap is framed, stripped of his badge, and thrown behind bars as a prisoner. The remainder of the trailer cuts back and forth between his past glory as a cop and his present struggle inside jail, as he vows to take down the system from the inside out. Esha Deol plays his steadfast partner while Tigmanshu Dhulia steps into the frame to lend weight to the conflict.
There is no denying that Amit Sadh is a powerhouse performer who brings intense dedication to his roles. In Pratap, he channels the classic 1990s male prototype, made famous by Sunny Deol in cult hits like Ghatak and Ziddi. From vein-popping screams to heavy-handed punchlines delivered directly at corrupt officials, Sadh leaves no stone unturned to sell the anger.
Joining him is Esha Deol, whose screen presence offers brief dramatic respite, though her character appears confined to traditional emotional beats. Meanwhile, veterans Tigmanshu Dhulia and Seema Biswas bring further intensity, but the trailer barely gives them room to break out of routine stereotypes.
Pratap takes itself entirely too seriously while leaning on formulas that Hindi cinema exhausted two decades ago, and it seems like a very huge problem! The upright cop framed by corrupt superiors who goes to prison and seeks revenge trope has been seen hundreds of times. The trailer offers very few fresh plot twists to set it apart.
The color palette, background score, and dialogue delivery feel reminiscent of delayed mid-2000s actioners rather than a crisp 2026 film! Audiences in 2026 expect either sleek, high-budget pan-India actioners or grounded, realistic crime thrillers. Pratap lands awkwardly in the middle – too melodrama-heavy for urbans and lacking the massive scale required for a single-screen audience!
