At that point, she’d resolved to increase awareness of the disease and make the most of her recovery. Avril Lavigne claimed that her struggles with Lyme disease were a major reason for her extended hiatus from public life following her self-titled 2013 album. Speaking to People magazine, she recounted her ordeal in heartwrenching detail:
“I was bedridden for five months. I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk and I couldn’t move. I thought I was dying.”
Avril also revealed that her doctors had been struggling to properly diagnose her for quite some time, exacerbating her troubles.
